The Barn is All Painted

After about a week of two people with a 'man-lift' scraping, two more days with five men and a "man-lift" scraping some more and applying about 80 gallons of paint; our big barn is painted and looking spectacular! Just a little more cleaning inside and we'll be ready for the games to be located inside the barn for the Fall Harvest Night on the 31st.

The Church "Old-Fashioned" Picnic is on Sunday July 18th after service. There will be old-fashioned picnic games for the children. The church is providing Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, & Drinks along with plates, cups, and plasticware. We ask that you bring a dish to pass and lawn chairs for your family. We will need volunteers for many small and not so small jobs, everything from setting up tables to running the grill to the very important job of clean up afterwards. A sign up is being passed around Sunday July 11th or you can contact Pastor Don at donaldboldt@gmail.com

Honey Bee Tree From HCF Being Relocated

The pictures are :

1. The Beekeeper (Mr. Kopicki) getting the bees settled - Notice he always works bare handed.
2.Worker cutting the hive portion of the tree while a "cherry picker" truck holds the tree steady.

4. "Cherry picker" putting the trunk on the ground - having under-estimated the size of the hive we cut through the bottom part - the Hive was over seven feet long.

The Honey Bee Tree at HCF

We are in the process of relocating the honey-bee tree at HCF. Above is a picture of two workers looking at the inside of the hive in the uppper portion of the tree stump which was laying on the ground. Shortly after this picture was taken, the log was hoisted into a truck and taken to the bee-keeper's farm. The rest of the hive is still there with some understandably upset bees flying around it, So: best to stay away from the hive for a couple days.
